"Fleas left. Their neighbors moved in." 2009-12-29
By Big Josh (KY, US)
I was so impressed with this product at first. We have six cats and only one had an adverse reaction but I think it was due to the fleas biting the crap out of him. He ran around the room, jumping in the air and what not. Kinda freaky.. but he survived. I couldn't find an alive flea on them for a couple of days but was thwarted by lack of an effective removal of the other fleas that were hanging in the shadows. Anyway, going back to Frontline, I'm afraid.

 "Side Effects" 2009-12-26
By Amy L. Stone (Anniston, AL)
Had a similar problem as a previous poster. My 1 year old Maine Coon has been running wildly, panting heavily and licking himself relentlessly for about an hour now.

He's starting to calm down, but I would read the enclosed package insert to see what side effects may affect your animal.

 "works great short term" 2009-12-23
By Cassandra Ehrlich (wingate, nc)
Capstar works great to kill the live fleas on your animals. However, it does nothing for the larva/eggs so you will need a secondary method of flea control. So far i have not found one that works. Capstar keeps my cats from being miserably itchy while i find something to kill the flea eggs.

"Great as part of a flea-fighting repertoire." 2009-12-12
By R. Murphy
As with many other households, our flea problem exploded before we had a chance to act this Fall. Our vet had given us a Capstar to try 24 hours before giving Advantage to our cat. It all worked, slightly, at first. I decided to take more action and treated the floors in the house with Borax. I then purchased the Capstar on here, as well as Frontline Plus (more benefits than the Advantage). I have not had to retreat the carpets since the first time. The fleas are to the point that we rarely see any at all, and they are usually in the process of dying anyhow. Every month, I give a Capstar to our cat, and the next day I apply her dose of Frontline Plus. I couldn't be happier.

"**ALERT** Vet charged me over $16 per PILL citing manufacturer increase" 2009-11-14
By R. Eye (Maryland)
I have a flea infestation (1 indoor cat). I purchased Capstar at the vet for $6 per pill. The product worked great killing all fleas on the cat. But the fleas in the house did not go away even though (for the 2nd treatment) we took all bedding and clothing to the laundromat washing everything for 4 hours plus vacuuming before and after etc. Yesterday, I went back to get another Capstar pill (the vet office never told me that I could give this pill every day) since I am having my house treated for the 3rd time. I asked if I could give the cat a Capstar every day until the fleas resolve because the cat is throwing up from licking and biting himself so much even though we flea comb him every day. When the vet office said yes I could, I was annoyed that they didn't tell me this weeks ago. So I said I'll get a box (6 pills). They said it would cost me over $100 per box and stated that the manufacturer tripled the price and that this year has been a terrible year for fleas (the worst since the vet tech could remember) and maybe the manufacturer was capitalizing on this. I bought one $16 pill and said, I will look online to get more.

I was much surprised to see Capstar offered for just over $17 per Box of 6 pills. I plan to give my cat one every day and use the suggestion of another reviewer to get a second product to kill the eggs. All this in addition to Frontline Plus. Anyway, just a heads up about the price, if it is indeed true, that the manufacturer has tripled the price then once this batch has run out and distributors have to purchase from the manufacturer, the price will go up for consumers.
