Overall I would highly recommend this product. We have a 21 pound black Pomeranian who was always jumping on people visiting the house. He's been through obedience training, however he would get so excited that I think he would lapse and forget his training when people would come knocking at the door. After just a few times of issuing a stern "Down" command followed by a low (1-2 setting shock, he immediately made the association and stopped this behavior. The device does have an audible tone feature, however we found it more useful to just use the shock in conjunction with our verbal commands. The tone does help to show if the collar is on or off, as the light just blinks the same when you are pushing the button to power it on or off. Just as with any training collar, you should not leave them on all of the time. Also, don't show them the remote or they will associate the discomfort with the remote instead of with the bad behavior.

Works most of the time, but have to make sure collar is tight so the poles contact the skin or it won't work.

We have a 6-month old dog that likes to jump up onto furniture and fight though the fence with the neighbor's dog. We tried for weeks to get him trained to stay down, and not bark when outside. We finally bought a training collar.
The actual collar isn't too large compared to the dog, and it seems comfortable on him, as far as he doesn't try to remove it. So far the batteries have lasted for a long time, but we also only use it while doing actual training.
The ability to dial-in the amount of shock works very well for a stubborn dog that likes to ignore commands.
The remote however is horrible. The buttons sink and tilt in all directions often missing the actual contact, which means you never know if it actually worked, or if the dog ignored the command. The battery door is also loose and easily falls out.

I had returned the first PDL training collar because it was using batteries like crazy. I had to replace batteries every other day. I finally figured that it might be defective, and contact Amazon. They replaced it with another one. The collar works as suppose to, but within another 5 months-it stop working. Though, I got a use of it because my dog is now trained not to go too far into my neighbor yard. I was hoping I can use the same one for my new dog, but it stop working less than one year. I will be looking for another dog training collor, but not this one.

Once you get the collar adjusted its a very helpful device. Its holding up well to the elements and our very energetic dog doesn't mind it being there.
